Our mission is to democratize finance for all—and the goal of our Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) program is to help build a company you can be proud to invest with. Every day, we work to build products that create a more equitable world—for our customers, employees, and society as a whole.
We are building our ESG program from the ground up, and are thrilled to launch our inaugural ESG report within months of being a public company. We’ve developed a program that upholds our values, pursues our commitments, and furthers our aim to operate a transparent business model. This is just the beginning—as we continue to build programs and set goals, we’ll share relevant updates on this page.

Our environmental impact
We’re just beginning to understand, quantify, and explore how to improve our environmental footprint. As a first step, in 2020, we worked with a third party consultant to undertake a greenhouse gas emissions study, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, using our 2019 fiscal year as a baseline. As we build on this initial assessment, it is our intention to develop an emissions reduction strategy and set goals, to take action to address our impact, and to continue reporting our progress. Our early efforts include:
Our offices have energy efficient LED and motion-sensor lighting and walkable campuses, and we provide a variety of incentives to encourage public transportation, bicycles and electric vehicles.
We primarily employ third party cloud infrastructure, along with a few co-located servers within third party data centers, to run our operations. We don’t own or operate any data centers. Our cloud providers have made or met carbon neutrality commitments.
We apply waste reduction strategies, and reduce our water use through low flow toilets, water filling stations and less water intensive plants and landscaping. We recycle and compost at our executive campus.

Robust governance and risk oversight systems ensure that we operate ethically and serve our stakeholders responsibly. As a newly public company, we have expanded our Board to include several new independent directors in 2021. We also created a Board-level Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee to oversee ESG disclosure and advise on strategy and related policies. Visit our investor relations site to view members of our Board of Directors and access our governance documents.
